As many of the Baby Boomers, are beginning to experience down sizing and
empty nests, homes are shrinking. But, banks are not co-operating. A
bank or builder will not even consider writing a mortgage for a small
home. One reason is that the homes tend to be highly personalized.
Second, the higher the mortgage, the more money the bank makes on the
deal. Many people have caught on to the cycle of banks recycling
mortgages, racking up interest, and costs. There is a movement toward
smaller homes, not only for the economic situation. Smaller homes are
more efficient to operate. And make less of a carbon foot print. The
Baby Boomers are making 'Greener' more environmentally friendly
decisions as to their housing choices. And younger people are following
this example. Rather than 'bigger is better', the ideal of 'Quality
rather then Quantity' is spreading.
